First the George Kaulback and Sarah South do not belong to our family (unless a brother to William

Kaulback who married Elizabeth Mattatall) however I included the information as it may be

useful to other researchers of their family. I have copies of many of the records that I consulted

compiling this family.

John George Kaulback was born in Halifax according to death records of children. He most likely deceased

before 1850 as Sarah was living with daughter Elizabeth in 1850.

George, Sarah and Family moved to MA USA between 1821 and 1824.

married Sarah South May 15, 1815 marriage bond I have viewed. The bond was signed

by George Kaulback and George South. Sarah was born ab 1792 in Quebec according to death records

of her children.(she was age 58 on 1850 Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts USA Census)

Died Malden MA Nov 25, 1902 age 86y 4m 16 d.

Was in Grocery wholesale business alive in 1900 US census John G. Kaulback age 80 widow living with 2 of his sisters)

Elizabeth was a widow in 1900.living in sister Sarah Dowse’s home Sarah also a widow in 1900.

Given the information above I suspect our line Starts with William Kaulback of Tatamoguche NS born about 1805.

I suppose it is possible William could be a brother to George who married Sarah South above but definitely not a son.

William Kaulback born about 1805 in England (?) resided New Annan Tatamougche, NS

according to 1871 census New Annan NS William was 66 yrs old making him born about 1805.

married Elizabeth Mattatall –b about 1826 .

The surname of Mattall, Mattatall came from late registration of births of a couple of her children.

She was 45 on the 1871 . I believe Elizabeth may have had a middle name of Margaret or possibly

William had a first wife named Margaret?

On the 1871 Census New Annan household of William (66) German and

Wife Elizabeth(45) Swiss next is a daughter Echean, Eebean, Febean (22) William

(9) Thomas (8) George A(3) Martha(1)-

Margaret was a few houses away with her husband Edward Dunbar and son Robert(4)

Robert (21) (laborer) (German) (Church of England) was living in Truro on 1871 Census

with a Daniel , Elizabeth Smith and children.
